North America’s Professional Drifting Championship Series, Formula DRIFT, returns to Palm Beach International Raceway June 1 & 2 for Round 3: Invasion. The competition will feature nearly one hundred racers drifting on the newly configured road course, where cars will slide at speeds over one hundred miles per hour for motorsports’ best example of extreme car-control driving. Drivers will test metal against mettle battling for the Formula DRIFT title.

The two-day competition starts on Friday afternoon as two levels of drifting professionals take to the track. The Formula DRIFT Racing Series is comprised of professional drifters from throughout the world to compete in seven rounds. Once an underground event, now a national phenomenon – Drifting has become extremely popular attracting fans with its freestyle nature compared to skateboarding and motor cross.

The Formula DRIFT race at Palm Beach International Raceway is a high powered, high skilled motorsport where professional drivers intentionally maneuver their cars into executed controlled sideways sliding at high speeds through a marked course challenging the drivers’ ability and control. In this racing series, engine and body modification become second to driving skill. Drivers are judged on execution and style, rather than who finishes the course in the fastest time.

Last year, the modified layout of PBIR proved to be the most challenging course yet for the in the series. Drivers faced a highly technical track with high speed and high angle entry and were not afraid to swap paint. On Friday drivers will take to the track for their practice and qualifying rounds.

In addition to the drifting on the Road Course, Slammed Society is back for the Formula Drift Title Car Show on Saturday by Fatlace, the Official Automotive Showcase, featuring the country’s freshest rides. At this event fans don’t have to be sidelined by the action but can compete in the Global Time Attack Autocross on both Saturday and Sunday.

No other professional racing series showcases drivers of the highest caliber bringing spectators the infectious rush of high adrenaline racing combining surgical drifting precision and tire-smoking power. On June 1 & 2 Gates open at 12pm with ticket prices starting at $26. Advance tickets are available at

Lone Star Throwdown 2015: Conroe, TX

Written by Randi Bentia | Photos by Russell Waller (StalRev) There are many things I miss about Texas. At shows, I miss the laid-back atmosphere, the smell of BBQ and trucks (and lots of it). I was reminded of these things from our contributing photographer Russell Waller, also known as StalRev, through his photo coverage of Lone Star Throwdown at Lone Star Expo Center in Conroe, TX on Feb 20-22, 2015. Music, food, cars, trucks, car audio and good vibes encourage enthusiasts to come out year after year.…

The terraced Turn 10 complex is said to be one of the best venues on the FD circuit due to the extreme elevation change and rowdy-yet-knowledgeable spectators who have been attending drifting events for years. Qualifying led to some familiar faces at the top of the grid, with Freddy Aasbo piloting his Hankook Scion tC…
