Formula Drift Round 4 2013: Wall, NJ

Formula D ripped into the Wall, NJ 1/8 mile oval course for the fourth stop on their 2013 10th anniversary tour. Although the speeds at wall are the slowest of the entire circuit, the transition off of the 30-degree banking makes the track one of the most technical to drive. This year’s configuration was changed up slightly, eliminating the crossover through the middle that was often bumpy. Qualifying yielded several familiar names at the top including a Falken 1-2 sweep with top qualifier Justin Pawlak in his Falken Tire Ford Mustang and Darren McNamara close behind in his Falken Tire…

SCP Evolution is back at it again as they returned to Laval, Quebec for a two-day weekend of customized vehicles and salon cars. This year, it was held at Place Forzani on April 23-24 2016. With over 83,000 square feet, the inner portion presented exclusive vehicles, corporate sponsors and selected regional suppliers. An SCP first, the outer portion was equipped with a closed circuit consisting of three activities. A ride & drive component allowed visitors to test drive the latest sport performance vehicles available on the market. There was…

Tokyo Auto Salon: Japan

As I head into my 40’s, I’m reminded that not only does perspective matter but also experience. This will be my 12th year covering the Tokyo Auto Salon (and the third with PASMAG) and I’m happy to say it never gets boring, regardless of age. Sure, I’m a little wearier than I used to be but there’s a clean and pure energy to the biggest automotive show on the planet that hits you like a spirit bomb when you trudge down the cold corridors of the entrance and emerge within the frenzied and buzzing halls beneath. It’s impossible not to…

D1 Drift 2016 (Round 1): Tokyo, Japan

All the sliding and drama that happended under the 1:1 Gundam. Round One of the 2016 D1 Drift Series kicked off as usual at the tight and technical confines of the Odaiba Venue, just outside Central Tokyo. On behalf of the readers of PASMAG and Toyo Tires as one of the sport's main sponsors, I was there to cover the main event. As a guest of Toyo, I received special access to the Trust R35 compound, and as you’ll see elsewhere in the magazine, some quality time with Kawabata-san, who endured my 20 questions just for you guys. The main…
