Redline Time Attack: Round 2

The stage was set for great day of practice at Firebird International Raceway, located just south of Phoenix, Arizona. However, Mother Nature had other plans. Racers and teams awoke to steady rain that made for a very soggy morning and a very slippery track. By the time the rain stopped and the clouds began to part, the schedule was well into the afternoon. This left only a couple of practice sessions for all of the racers to get in some valuable track time.   The fastest sessions of the day were the last sessions for each group. In the…

DTP 2011: Vancouver, BC

The Northwest: known to the rest of the country as the place with the rain and coffee. However, ask some car enthusiasts and they might tell you that we’ve had some pretty good car shows in the past up here, often with the quality rivaling that of the other big markets. One show that has always been at the top of the list of yearly shows to attend has been Driven to Perform, the yearly show held in Vancouver B.C. that gives most of us down in the U.S. a reason to battle through the border crossing just to go…

Formula Drift Round 5 2013: Seattle, WA

Formula D threw down in Seattle, Washington for the fifth stop on the 2013 tour to perfect weather and a sold-out crowd. The Evergreen Speedway track has been on the schedule since 2006, and has provided some of the most dramatic finishes over the past several years. This year would be no different as there were several major shakeups in the championship point’s standings. Friday’s qualifying was topped by Darren McNamara, piloting his Falken Tire S14 to the top position with a qualify score of 97.5, one of the best so far this season. Fredric Aasbo slid into second in…

Tokyo Auto Salon 2010

Every year we put our daily lives on hold and hop on a plane for Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS). After 13 hours living it up in First Class, we arrive in Japan the following day after crossing the International Date Line. The first order of business when you step off the plane is to grab a DoCoMo cell phone in the airport, which will cost around $60 for the week. Then it’s time to hop on the train and head out to the hotel that booked us in a cramped 10’x10’ room. Since the twin beds were almost touching, our…
