CES 2016: Las Vegas, NV

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was a different beast altogether this year. Last year’s show saw me lost in literal seas of people, being marooned near some HDTV from Malaysia and having to find my way across to the island of car audio and new car technologies. This year, however, it seems there was some memo sent out by CES organizers that not everyone and their grandmother could attend. Walking in through those familiar Las Vegas Convention Center doors, I paused to enjoy the fact that I could breathe my own air and no one else’s. I could walk. I…

86FEST 2012: Fontana, CA

Written by Eric Lopez | Photos by Mario Cruz (Geisha Events) & Motormavens.com 86FEST is the largest Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and AE86 gathering in North America! Organized by the people who run the popular MotorMavens website, the very first 86FEST took place at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana CA, drawing close to 2000 people to participate in road racing, autocross, and a massive car meet for Toyota, Scion, and Subaru owners. The line to get into the event ran along the entire backside of the venue all the way to the speedway entrance, with tons of performance modded cars…

Import Face-Off 2010: Baton Rouge, LA

Johnny Williams pulled the upset win in the FWD class after number qualifier and 2010 points leader, Aaron Lopez (San Antonio, TX) timed out in the first round of eliminations. Aaron was looking to take the easy win, but he did not realize the timing clock started as soon as his opponent’s second staging bulb flickers. The second bulb never stayed completely lite, only flickered, due to an extremely shallow stage. Before the second bulb, both racers sat on one light playing a “staging duel” for about 15 seconds. This just goes to show there is more to drag racing…

Gulf Coast Motor Fest 2017: Fort Myers, FL

FAST Events (Florida Automotive Society & Track Events) hosted Gulf Coast Motor Fest, a premier automotive showcase of cars, trucks and motorcycles, at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, FL on January 29th and brought together hundreds of vehicles from all makes and models, and enthusiasts, young and old. In addition to a Show & Shine, show competitors were able to participate in a dyno challenge for bragging rights, while the attendees tried their luck in winning giveaways in raffles and games, while raising funds to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida. With the support from Optimus Performance,…
