AutoCon 2014: Pomona, CA

Text by Big Mike. Photos by Paul Nguyen AutoCon’s growth as a car show and event has been impressive to witness over the last few years. Starting in 2010, the show was held in an underground parking structure in the City of Industry, CA, and presented as a charity-type event as they collaborated with the Marines and Toys for Tots. Many of my friends and industry partners were either attending or playing a major role in the event, so I made sure to make it out. The vibe was fun, laid back - more of a meet then a show…

Scion Unveils to FR-S Concept Sports Coup

On November 30th, Scion revealed the FR-S to a jam packed Milk Studios in Los Angeles. According to the Scion website, the new FR-S is designed “with a front-mounted flat boxer engine, the rear-wheel drive FR-S has motorsport running in its veins.” "Scion is always experimenting with new things," said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. It was a miracle win for Cesar, not because of his quarter-mile times which are very competitive, but because he barely even made it to the track in the first place. An important reminder for anyone hauling a race car: USE TOW STRAPS, don’t rely on just the winch cable. Cesar’s…

Redline Time Attack: Round 8

Out in the middle of the Nevada desert lies 3.1 miles of winding pavement known as Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. This country club facility is without a doubt one of the nicest stops on the 2010 Redline Time Attack circuit, but it also has a special history as being the site of the first ever Redline Time Attack event back in 2005. Back then, Tarzan Yamada took the event win in the Swift Springs Nissan S15 with a 2:xx.xxx lap. Last year, it was Paul Gerrard in the AMS Performance / NOS Energy Drink Mitsubishi Evo X who emerged victorious with a 2:18.055. The…
