Formula DRIFT Announces Competition Changes for 2013 Season; New Changes to Be In Effect at Round 1: Streets of Long Beach

Formula DRIFT has announced competition changes for the 2013 Pro Championship Season. The new changes will be in effect starting at Round 1: Streets of Long Beach on April 12-13, 2013.

“To better inform our fans of competition changes that will be relevant to the live viewing and live stream, we have announced a few new changes to the competition format that will begin at the season opener in Long Beach,” stated Ryan Sage, vice-president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “These adjustments will bring new excitement to the Series and keep downtime to a minimum with the end goal of enhancing the fan experience.”

The main revisions to the competition format and rulebook are as follows:
1. “Knock-out” style Qualifying.
2. 5-minute rule renamed and adjusted.
3. Qualifying criterion points adjustment.
4. Specific issues identified as zeros (0) in qualifying and tandem.
5. Updated verbiage on passing.

“We made these changes to make judging specific criteria less ambiguous and more defined, which will keep us accountable for consistency,” said Andy Yen, judge for Formula DRIFT. “The new changes will help define the judging without sacrificing the essence of drifting, subjectivity.”

CES 2015: Las Vegas, NV

BACK TO THE FUTURE. The Consumer Electronics Show was a shock to the system. Yes, there were crazy, new innovations shown that might make your life easier and sound better, but I’m talking about the sheer enormity of this place. I have been fortunate enough to do both of the biggest trade shows in the world, in one year. After SEMA, I was under the impression that I was the king of the Las Vegas Convention Center. I’m also a huge nerd, so these were my people. I walked into Central Hall thinking, ‘Let me at ’em! I’ve conquered SEMA…

Wekfest Long Beach 2012

Hot off the heels of SF WEKFEST in February, WEKSOS kicked off their first tour stop and the Summer Season with WEKFEST LA. On June 2nd, the Queen Mary Events Center played host to thousands of spectators, enthusiasts, vendors, participants, and everyone in between. The venue is situated right along the Port of Long Beach, which only added to the visual beauty of the show cars that all had to pass through WEKFEST's screening process. Due to this process, the show has become synonymous with quality builds and a place where almost everyone has a camera in hand, eager to…

CES 2011: Las Vegas, NV

The 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) stormed into Vegas once again to display the latest in gadgets, home theatre, computer and, of course, 12V audio and multimedia. Each year CES brings together new products and new faces to the scene, but as in many years past, it was the major players that attracted the most attention. Some of the latest audio builds drew in onlookers by the hundreds and there were more than a few noteworthy installs. Pioneer went with some hot resto-mods like Camaros and Firebirds all in blazing Pioneer red. The vehicles underwent extensive modifications and the systems…
