Their serious MTX attitude is a trait they want to associate with their products and is revealed in everything they do. The MTX demo-vehicles always have a sinister appearance and when MTX started describing their latest project dubbed ‘Blood Donor’ too us, we knew it would be murdered-out and ready to rock. The exterior modifications consist of a full Razzi body kit, shaved side marker lights, custom grille with a laser-cut aluminum pattern incorporating an MTX logo in ‘Olde English’ style lettering.

When the crew at MTX sets out to do something, they do it right. When MTX decided to build the meanest subwoofer, they produced a 6,000W RMS unit called the JackHammer that tips the scales at almost 370 pounds! And when MTX tossed their hat in the octagon of mixed martial arts, they didn’t just scatter some banners around an event... they sponsored fighters, teams and even events of their own. This all or nothing approach is the key to MTX’s aggressive branding and having a whole stable of trained MMA fighters on your side doesn’t hurt either.

After being shot in Dupont Hot Rod black, House of Kolor gloss black racing stripes were painted on top of the body to pay homage to classic Chevys of decades past. They added some gangster rollers to really set it off with 20-inch Savini SV-71s also in a custom black and wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R 245/35R20s all around.

 

The sinister MTX theme carried on into the interior where loads of reupholstered components are found. A black suede headliner, armrests and various accents accent the black leather with red woven leather seats. Over 70 trim panels were pulled out and refinished with a menacing dark theme. The door panels were pulled and feature the same red woven leather with custom red LED back-lit Plexiglas. The interior treatment set the stage for where MTX would put forth all of their effort – the audio assault.

Kicking things off, the talented and often insane MTX team stripped the car down and laid down some Hushmat sound deadening. Next, they disassembled the original GM radio and repainted the factory unit to better blend into the new blackedout interior. For processing, they utilized a re-Q5 by StreetWires placed in a custom ‘floating’ backlit tray behind the rear seat along with the MTX TXC6.1 crossover units for the front speakers. Up front, the stage was set with MTX TXC6.1 components set in custom kick panel setup on both sides of vehicle. To really rock the block, MTX TT6510-04 shallow mount subwoofers in custom built door panels were installed in both front doors for midbass. The rear doors were also upgraded with MTX TXC6.1 component set in custom door panels built to match the front doors.

 

With an army of hard hitting subwoofers in the MTX militia, selecting a weapon of choice was no easy task. Two tough MTX TS8512 inch subwoofers were mounted in a custom built MDF tray that integrates the stock third brake light. The tray is supported by a metal frame connected with the body of the vehicle for strength and support.

 

Aiming to grab more attention than a streaker at a ballgame, the MTX team decided to engineer a set of chain-driven, motorized-mechanism amp racks! The two separate aluminum racks (two amps on each) are trimmed out with fibreglass panels designed to rise in and out while carrying the gloss black Malibu stripes through the trunk install. A two-way paging Audiovox Prestige alarm system keeps the car safe and sound, plus it controls the amp rack motorization.

 

A pair of MTX RFL600D’s power the TS8512 subwoofers in the rear deck, while two MTX RFL404 amps power the door speakers. Wiring, distribution and interconnects were made via StreetWires latest gear including StreetWires Super Cable 14 and 16AWG wire and StreetWires ZeroNoise ZN9 RCA cables to provide the strongest signal while offering noise prevention features for crystal clear sound. Juice comes from two XS Power D1200’s in the trunk area and an XS Power S1200 under the hood. The end result is a ground pounding 2,000 watts total system wattage!
