For the first time since its inaugural season in 2011, Global Rallycross will contest a doubleheader event as part of X Games Munich this coming weekend.
The first race will take place at 9:30AM ET on Saturday, June 29, and will be shown on ABC that night at 7PM ET. The second race will take place on Sunday, June 30, and will be shown live on ESPN starting at 11AM ET. Both races will also be streamed live on ESPN3.com.
Global Rallycross opened the 2013 season as part of X Games Foz do Iguacu on April 21. A thrilling main event saw newcomer Scott Speed claim a victory in his first-ever rallycross start, passing Toomas Heikkinen on the joker lap in the final corner to take the win. All three podium finishers earned their first X Games medals in their first tries.
Including Speed, the 17-driver field for X Games Munich includes two-time defending series champion Tanner Foust; defending European rallycross champion Timur Timerzyanov; two-time DTM champion and three-time Race of Champions winner Mattias Ekstrom; Dave Mirra, the all-time leader in X Games medals with 24; and all of the stars of the Global Rallycross tour.
