The luxury marque Infiniti is preparing a new sport sedan for 2027. The vehicle aims to recapture the spirit of the iconic G35, offering rear-wheel drive and a possible manual transmission. That could bring back a driving experience many car enthusiasts have missed.
According to statements from Tiago Castro, vice president of Infiniti Americas, the sedan will be a low-volume model focused on pure driving enjoyment. While technical details remain under wraps, there is a good chance this sedan could share a platform with a Nissan model — possibly the same underpinnings used by the current Nissan Z.
Infiniti does not plan to revive the “G” name. Instead the new model will carry the brand’s existing naming scheme. Despite that, the car is being engineered to deliver strong performance, agile handling, and overall driving balance. The goal is not just straight-line speed but an engaging ride for passionate drivers.
This upcoming sedan is part of a broader plan to reenergize Infiniti’s lineup. The brand intends to unveil one new model per year. The first in the series will be the new QX65 SUV arriving in 2026. Following the sedan in 2027, Infiniti also plans a hybrid compact SUV for 2028 which will use Nissan’s E-Power hybrid system.
Under Castro’s leadership, Infiniti is trying to rebuild its identity with carefully chosen, distinctive models rather than chasing high volumes. The emphasis is on quality, design, and a clear vision for drivers who value luxury with a sporty edge.
If everything goes as planned, the 2027 sport sedan could mark a significant comeback for Infiniti as a brand that values driving engagement and emotional appeal.
