Like many enthusiasts who grew up in the early 2000s, Jason Wang’s formative years were filled with late-night Need for Speed sessions, grainy RWB build videos, and the unmistakable influence of the Fast and Furious franchise. Living in Canada, he watched the 15-year import rule bring waves of affordable JDM metal into the country—Evos, RX-7s, R32 GT-Rs—all suddenly within reach for some, but still well out of range for a high school kid. Wang started with what he could: a Mk3 GTI VR6 that he still owns today, teaching himself mechanical work, wiring, paint, and fabrication along the way.
By university, JDM cars finally entered his life, but the reality of salted Canadian roads meant their bodies deteriorated faster than he could keep up with. That’s where the Mustang GT came in. Bought as a fun, rear-wheel-drive winter beater, the ’99 Ford carried him through school and cross-country road trips. Over time, it sparked a different kind of passion—one rooted in creative freedom rather than rarity.
Years later, with his own company, Infamous Aero, Wang revisited the Mustang with new skills and perspective. What started as a daily driver quickly became the canvas for something entirely his own. “Perfection is the enemy of progress,” he says, a motto that guided him through each stage of the build.
The most visible change comes in the Infamous Aero Unit 00 widebody kit, a design Wang created with his business partner Jesse after countless revisions. The goal was to reintroduce the Mustang’s signature bodyline from the ’60s and modern S550/S650 cars, while blending JDM influence. Boxy forward arches nod to the Evo 7–9, while the rear quarter cut channels R33 GT-R inspiration. Even the ground effects echo Origin Labo and BN Sports, with Pandem-style bumper cuts that show off tire width and stance.
Finished in Nissan LP2 Midnight Purple 1—sprayed by Wang himself—the car also features a lace roof and hand-made rose inlays that tie into its floral motif. Inside, JDM cues meet Mustang DNA with GReddy, Mugen, and Vertex x Fatlace components alongside Corbeau seats and a custom hydraulic handbrake console. Under the hood, the V8 breathes through BBK long-tube headers, an Airaid intake, and a custom tune.
What began as a winter beater evolved into a statement about influence and individuality—a bridge between cultures, eras, and ideas. Wang’s Mustang doesn’t just blend styles; it defines its own lane.
