Audi Sport Limited Edition Audi R8 is an Aesthetics Package Only

When Audi’s Quattro division changed its name to Audi Sport, they announced that some new models were on the way. Debuted at the New York Auto Show, the Audi R8 seems to fall into the sub-brand’s wheelhouse with the reveal of an Audi Sport Edition of the Audi R8. However, despite the sporty name, the limited edition R8 doesn’t feature any bolstered performance figures, but rather a flashy cosmetic makeover.

Immediately noticeable is the addition of a liberal dose of red. The R8’s signature side blades and mirrors get the same high-gloss red plaint treatment that the brake calipers do. The brake caliper come in an anthracite finish on the V10 Plus trim, but the side blades and mirrors will be exclusively red. The front spoiler, grille and diffuser will be titanium black, and tailpipe trim will be finished in a gloss black.

There are some changed inside the car as well. Illuminated door sills welcome you into the cabin where black and red Nappa leather seats will keep you comfortable. Overall interior color is dependent on paint choice, but dark silver stitching and gloss carbon fiber inlays will keep things fresh regardless of color. In true racecar fashion the flat-bottom, three-spoke steering wheel has a matching red stripe wrapped at 12 o’clock.

Production for the Audi Sport Edition R8 is said to be limited to 200 units worldwide, with orders starting in May and deliveries beginning towards the end of the summer. Standard models will run about $193,100, and the V10 Plus models will go for around $218,500.
