JL Audio: Behind The Scenes

As Magazine Editors, we are fortunate enough to get a "behind the scenes" look at manufacturing operations that are not open to the public. While we were down in Miami, we headed to JL Audio in Miramar, FL a neighboring suburb. The JL Audio facility is housed in an attractive building and we were eager to get an inside look. While many manufacturers have outsourced overseas, JL Audio does most of right here in the USA. In tough economic times, that is a growing concern but JL Audio keeps the jobs at home and the quality top shelf by basing their manufacturing in the United States.

We met up with Marketing Director, Manville Smith who gave us and uncensored look at the immense facility. After touring the administrative side, we visited the manufacturing area where there were several part numbers we recognized being produced right before our eyes. We checked out the home subwoofer production area and then the area where the car audio subs were being pieced together. From there we went to the Stealthbox production area and saw many of the tuned enclosures that JL Audio makes specifically for the best audio performance. Finally, we toured the marine speakers area where they were being assembled on the line.

We thanked JL Audio and Manville for the opportunity and then it was back to South Beach for some R&R after a long day. Now when you are looking at JL Audio product, you have a sense of how detailed the manufacturing process is for a premium product!
