Ground Pounder: Steven Head’s 1990 Chevrolet Blazer

Steven Head found himself interested in cars from a young age, largely thanks to family members who were into drag racing and hot rods. In 1985, Head became addicted to car audio. After building a few variations of audio systems in his old 1976 Dodge Aspen, he began to tinker with audio equipment more when he got a job building conversion vans to develop some crafting skills. Down to road, he would build his next two vehicles with custom interior rebuilds, careful planning, and some craftsmanship expertise.

During his time in the competition scene, Head found himself drawn to the first generation of Chevrolet Blazer, and had even seen some of the best ground-pounding systems of the era in that platform. He finally found one that needed some work, and finished the car with a no-nonsense SQ audio system with an emphasis on maximum sound performance while maintaining ease of serviceability.
