Since the competition is heating up, companies like VBOX USA have to stay ahead of the curve. The Michigan-based company rewrote the rules of performance meters by unleashing a GPS unit that measured everything including lap times and drift angles with the Drift Box! The company has now released a more consumer–friendly version of their flagship system called the Video VBOX Lite that boasts an all-in-one solution.
The Video VBOX Lite incorporates a video recorder, a GPS datalogger and a real time graphic overlay of performance data in the video! The video recorder is solid state meaning that it has no moving parts and can take the punishment of road racing. Based on the Video VBOX Pro, the Lite version is housed in a more compact and rugged enclosure. The Video BOX Lite measures all of the same parameters of the basic VBOX including: lap times, G-forces, 1/4 mile, 0-60, and more.
With two camera inputs, drivers can mount the mini-cams from whatever angle they want to capture. These durable cameras withstand the rigors of racing while recording it all in stunning DVD-quality video.
The video then has all of the real-time telemetry such as: RPM, Speed, g-force, engine data, gear selection, lap times and camera No. 2 laid over top of the video feed.
The system will even generate track maps and show the position of the vehicle in real-time going around the circuit. The video is then compressed and saved onto an SD card in a format that is easily viewable by all players and posted on popular websites such as YouTube.
The windows-based software is easy to use and allows for all kind of customization of the video and performance parameters. The analysis of video afterward allows for detailed driver training and an opportunity for pit crews to uncoverwhere the car can be improved upon. When that minor adjustment or new upgrade can mean all the difference, the Video VBOX Lite enables teams to uncover fractions of a second with the same powerful telemetry only big money teams used tohave access to.
Beyond the obvious benefit of collecting all of the data and merging it with real-time video, the ‘fun factor’ is off the chart. Never before has video and lap timing been so high impact with video amounting to a lifetime of memories from various track day events.
From the grassroots user to the professional, anyone who goes fast … wants to be faster and now that’s possible with the Video VBOX Lite, and for much less than you would expect!
