KW Automotive marked a huge milestone at the Essen Motor Show 2025, celebrating 30 years of KW coilover suspensions—a product that helped shape the modern performance suspension world.
Back in 1995, KW introduced something completely new: a height-adjustable coilover suspension approved for street use in Germany. At the time, it was a game-changer. What started as just nine applications for four vehicles has grown into nearly 30,000 suspension setups for over 2,500 vehicles worldwide, plus motorsport and OEM projects for some of the biggest names in the industry.
Founded by Klaus Wohlfarth, KW’s roots go back to the early ’90s when he ran a tuning shop and became frustrated with the quality of suspension products on the market. That frustration turned into innovation, and KW quickly gained attention for building suspensions that actually delivered on performance and comfort.
Over the years, KW has led the way with major tech advancements, including independent compression and rebound adjustment, stainless steel shock bodies, hydraulic lift systems, adaptive coilovers, and even app-based suspension control. One of its most iconic products, the KW V3 coilover, helped prove that aggressive lowering and daily comfort could exist together.
Today, KW Automotive works closely with manufacturers like BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Toyota, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini, supplying suspension components for both road cars and race cars. In motorsport, KW dampers are trusted across GT racing, endurance racing, and beyond.
All KW suspensions are built to order in Fichtenberg, Germany, with an impressive ability to produce one-off setups for individual customers. With nearly everything made in-house, KW produces around 500 custom suspensions per day, each tailored to a specific vehicle and purpose.
After 30 years, KW Automotive continues to push suspension tech forward—on the street, the track, and everywhere in between.
