When Jordyn Brazeau went looking for a project in 2020, the goal was simple: find a clean, rust-free 2006 Infiniti G35 Sport with the right transmission. What he ended up with was a nearly stock car with little more than an aftermarket head unit — a perfect blank slate. Four years later, that same chassis, now known affectionately as “Silly Sally,” took him all the way to the cover of PASMAG as the winner of the 12th annual Tuner Battlegrounds Championship.

The transformation didn’t happen overnight. Within the first year of ownership, Brazeau committed to a widebody build, turning to online forums for guidance. The widest wheel fitment he could find was 14.5 inches out back, but he decided to push it even further with a 15-inch rear wheel. The gamble didn’t pay off immediately — clearance issues meant cutting and widening the fenders even more. It was the first of many lessons in trial, error, and persistence that defined Brazeau’s build process.

That persistence was tested again when the factory VQ failed just before an important show deadline. Rather than rebuild, Brazeau pivoted to an LS swap. The car drove into that event under its own power — even if it was on open headers. It also began earning its “Silly Sally” nickname when its alarm and power windows seemed to take on a life of their own. From then on, the G35’s quirks became part of its personality, and just as much a part of the build journey as any modifications that came afterward.

Engines came and went — sometimes lasting years, sometimes just days. Junkyard blocks, head-gasket jobs, and countless hours of wrenching became the rhythm of the build. With the help of Stay Tuned Auto Repair, the latest iteration is a fully forged LS 6.0-liter build with a Stage 4 BTR cam, Thompson Motorsports 799 ported heads, and a 200-shot of Nitrous Express. On spray, the setup makes around 800 horsepower, echoed through a set of Kooks headers and a dual exhaust.

Supporting that power is a Clutch Masters 6-puck clutch, while Toyo Proxes R888R tires wrap massive 19x13.5-inch front and 19x15-inch rear Weds Kranze Vishnu wheels. An Air Lift 3P management system over Truhart struts provides the aggressive stance Brazeau wanted. The exterior wears a Fibreglass Mafia widebody kit, widened an additional 2.5 inches per side, and wrapped in Luminous Nightsky White by Vibin Vinyl, with honeycomb carbon pieces from Fly1 Motorsports and Tqwrkz. Inside, Bride Low Max seats and gradient-pattern door cards set the tone, while NRG hardware and an Atoto S8 head unit complete the cockpit.

As much as the spec sheet matters to us and the readers, Brazeau emphasizes that the build was never just about parts — it was about learning and growing as a car builder. Every engine swap taught him more about wiring, routing, and diagnostics. Every failure made the successes mean that much more. His children learned how to wrench by his side, to the point where he says his seven-year-old could nearly pull the motor himself. What began as a personal project became a way to bond with his family.

That family connection carried the build further than Brazeau ever expected. Tuner Battlegrounds gave him a platform, and the community support pushed “Silly Sally” to the cover of PASMAG, along with a dream invitation to SEMA — a milestone Brazeau swore he’d never reach unless it was with his own car on display. It’s proof that every hard-earned success begins with commitment — and that some victories, like this one, are truly earned, not given.
