Peter Doan - 1991 Honda NSX

There’s a certain kind of person who can’t leave a car alone — not because it isn’t good enough, but because they see what it could be. For Peter Doan, that instinct came early. His father ran a small mechanic shop, and weekends spent in the garage turned into lessons about how things worked. That foundation would shape everything that followed.
Growing up, Doan was captivated by the golden era of import shows — NOPI, Hot Import Nights — and especially by Team Emotion. “Every time I looked at their cars, I drew inspiration for what my own build would look like,” he recalls. Those impressions never left.
After cutting his teeth on a Honda EG hatch and a widebody Lexus GS430, Doan started thinking bigger. He wanted something rarer, turbocharged, and more challenging. The right car came by chance — a right-hand-drive, automatic 1991 Honda NSX found in Boston. It wasn’t perfect, but it was the canvas he’d been waiting for.
Two weeks after bringing it home, the NSX was stripped to the shell. The original 3.0L was replaced with a fully built K24, force-fed by a Precision Next Gen 6466 turbo on a KLM manifold. Supporting upgrades from Radium Engineering, GATO, and SpeedFactory helped push output to roughly 1,000 horsepower, channeled through a built EP3 transmission and Driveshaft Shop axles.
Visually, the car strikes a careful balance between aggression and refinement. The mix of I’s Impact and Marga Hills aero is complemented by Advance fenders, a Voltex wing, and Seibon carbon panels. Lightweight Lexan rear glass and double-staggered TE37s on Toyo R888s complete the look. Inside, the focus is function-first, with Bride Vorga seats, a Hybrid Racing V2 shifter, and an Aim digital dash integrated into a carbon interior.
For Doan, the car’s transformation isn’t just about horsepower — it’s about persistence, creativity, and staying true to the inspiration that started it all. The once-stock NSX now stands as proof that the lessons learned as a kid in his father’s garage never went to waste.
