Falken's Azenis FK460 A/S Silent Core EV Tire

Falken Tires, part of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. in Japan, has unveiled a new tire aimed at the EV market: the Azenis FK460 A/S Silent Core. This Ultra-High Performance All-Season tire leverages Falken’s Silent Core technology, specifically crafted for the needs of electric vehicles. By incorporating a foam insert along the backside of the tire tread, Silent Core significantly minimizes tire cavity noise, offering a quieter, more comfortable driving experience. Falken's engineers used tire noise simulation for precise development and placement of this technology.

The FK460 A/S Silent Core builds on the foundation of Falken’s award-winning Advanced 4D Nano Technology. This innovation delivers a rubber compound that balances high performance, all-season traction, and long tread life. Maintaining the intricate tread pattern of the original FK460, the FK460 A/S Silent Core includes features like emerging grooves and interlocking sipes to enhance stability in adverse weather while reducing air channeling noise. Additionally, the Canyon Groove Technology boosts braking performance on snowy roads.

“We’re excited to bring this tire to the market,” said Tsuyoshi Johnson, Falken’s Director of Product Planning. “Our team has worked hard to ensure the FK460 A/S Silent Core matches the performance drivers expect from the Azenis FK460, with the added benefit of a quieter ride. We believe this tire achieves those goals and more.”

The Azenis FK460 A/S Silent Core is designed for a range of popular electric vehicles, including the Audi E-Tron S, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Genesis GV60 & GV70, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Lucid Motors Air, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Nissan Ariya, Polestar 2, and Tesla Models 3, S, X, and Y.

With an initial rollout of 16 sizes and rim options ranging from 18 to 22 inches, the FK460 A/S Silent Core comes with a 50,000-mile limited tread life warranty and Falken's Road Hazard Protection, offering drivers reliable performance season after season.

“Introducing the FK460 A/S Silent Core to our lineup supports the growing number of EVs on the road,” said Rick Brennan, Falken's Vice President of Strategic Planning. “We understand that EV drivers value a quiet, comfortable ride, and with the all-season capability of the FK460, we ensure our customers stay safe and confident behind the wheel.”
