TE37 Day Officially Registered in Japan for March 7

How many aftermarket wheels can claim their own officially recognized day?

As of this year, the answer is one: the Volk Racing TE37.

TE37 Day has been formally registered in Japan for March 7, with the recognition granted by the Japan Anniversary Association. The 3/7 designation directly reflects the wheel’s name and arrives as the TE37 celebrates its 30th anniversary. More details on the official designation can be found via RAYS’ announcement here:

Originally introduced in 1996, the forged six-spoke wheel quickly earned a reputation for exceptional strength-to-weight performance and durability under motorsport conditions. Produced using RAYS’ proprietary forging process in Japan, the TE37 became a fixture in circuit racing, time attack, drifting, and high-performance street builds across the globe.

To mark the milestone, RAYS has introduced the TE37 SONIC 30th Anniversary Model, a commemorative edition that carries forward the wheel’s iconic six-spoke DNA while celebrating three decades of continuous production and evolution. While it is not a national holiday, the official registration places the TE37 in exceptionally rare company. Very few automotive components — and even fewer aftermarket products — have ever been granted their own formally recognized commemorative day in Japan. That distinction reflects more than popularity; it signals cultural significance.

In Japan, craftsmanship, longevity, and engineering excellence carry deep cultural weight. Products that endure for decades are not simply successful — they become part of the manufacturing heritage narrative. The TE37’s three-decade lifespan, continued refinement, and global adoption have elevated it beyond a performance part into a symbol of Japanese engineering identity.

Thirty years after its debut, the TE37 remains one of the most recognizable forged wheels in the world. Now, every March 7 stands as an official acknowledgment of a wheel that didn’t just define an era — it outlasted one.

Few wheels change the industry. Fewer still earn a place on the calendar.
