Grip
Often confused with handling, grip is the ability of the car’s tyres to hold onto the road under the stresses of cornering, braking and acceleration. Grip is also referred to as ‘roadholding’. Suspension and tyres are partners in the creation of a car’s grip. The tyres do the gripping, but only when the suspension keeps them pressed into the tarmac. If the suspension allows the tyre to leave the road or even ‘unload’, grip is reduced. And this is the greatest failing of most existing suspension mods as it ignores the fact that the name of the game is maximising contact between road and tyre.
