Built for the Next Generation
Leopold Barrit - 1995 Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra has always been more than just another sports car. For some, it’s an icon of speed and performance; for others, it’s a cultural legend. For Leopold Barrit, his 1995 Toyota Supra represents both—but also something deeper.
This particular Supra didn’t begin life as a high-horsepower build. For nearly two decades, it served as a daily driver for Leopold’s mother-in-law, accumulating more than 200,000 miles along the way. As The Fast and the Furious elevated the MkIV Supra into automotive legend status, the car began attracting offers from strangers eager to buy it. Eventually, practicality won out, and she decided it was time to let it go. That was when Leopold stepped
The car was appraised at $17,000, and Leopold simply turned to his wife and said, “Write her the check.” That moment became the starting point for a 12-year transformation that would turn the once-stock Supra into the machine it is today.

From the beginning, the goal was clear: create a Supra that stood apart from the norm. Under the hood sits a 3.4L Brian Crower stroker 2JZ-GTE VVTi engine producing an astonishing 1,100 horsepower at the wheels. A custom twin-turbo setup featuring BorgWarner 7163 EFR turbos, paired with Turbosmart blow-off valves and internal wastegates, delivers seamless power while maintaining drivability.
The engine bay itself feels more like a showcase than a traditional performance setup. Titanium piping with intricate pie cuts complements custom Hypertune cam covers and intake components, while modern additions such as a PDM system and drive-by-wire throttle help blend old-school Supra performance with modern technology.

Leopold also wanted the Supra’s exterior to match its performance capabilities. The body combines elements from two Varis aero kits, including Solid & Joker bumpers and side skirts, Ridox widebody fenders, and a carbon fiber GT wing. A Varis carbon cooling hood and extensive carbon accents complete the aggressive styling, while a Military Olive Green protective wrap preserves the finish underneath.
The Supra rides on Yokohama Advan RZ-DF2 wheels wrapped in Toyo Tires R888R rubber, helping put the car’s four-digit power output to the pavement. Behind the wheels sits a Brembo GT-S braking system designed to match the build’s performance demands.

Inside, the cabin continues the same level of detail. Leopold sourced rare Recaro SP-JJ Tomcat seats finished in Kevlar Yellow—one of only 150 pairs ever produced. To maintain continuity, the rear seats were upholstered in matching material. Carbon fiber dash panels, a custom gauge cluster, and a ProEFI Logger display modernize the cockpit while still preserving a distinctly period-correct atmosphere.
The audio system was also carefully considered, featuring an Alpine iLX-507 head unit, Focal Flax Evo speakers, and a JL Audio subwoofer integrated into a custom trunk enclosure.
Over the past year, the Supra has become a fixture on the show circuit, earning multiple awards and even appearing at SEMA. But beyond the accolades, the car represents something more personal. Leopold’s son is now 15 years old, and every step of the build process has been done with him in mind. One day, this Supra will become his—ensuring the story behind the car continues into the next generation.
